Corn Receiving Trucks

Arriving
  • If you are the first truck to arrive in the morning, please do not pull on the scale until we signal.
  • Please start in Line 1 and move to next lanes as needed. Last truck in line, please turn on hazard lights. Stop at the stop sign before moving forward, then use the flagpole as a guide to ensure you do not have wheels on the scale.
  • If there are feed/oil/chemical trucks in the feed line, please alternate between corn trucks.
  • Please untarp trailers when you are on the scale. If it raining, wait for Scalemaster to tell you to untarp or give you a sample bag.
    • If you receive a sample bag, fill bag when dumping and return to outbound scale. DO NOT scan your card until we receive sample and indicate it is ok to proceed.
  • Average time from scale-in to scale-out is approximately 10 minutes.
New Accounts
  • If you have corn for an account that has not been set-up, please ensure you have name, address, and telephone written down to give to Scalemaster. Please note, for efficiency, it is appreciated if you call ahead to have account set-up, but not required (317-699-4199, ext 1).
At the Inbound Scale
  • At the inbound kiosk, please scan your card over the black square.
  •  If you do not have your scan card, you can speak to the Scalemaster when you get to the kiosk and a card will be provided (please press call button). Please note, scan cards from other POET locations will not work at Shelbyville.
  • Let us know if there is a split and/or if it is contract or spot – each time you come.
Leaving the Scale
  • Please wait for the Scalemaster to give the signal to proceed along with a green light. You can then head to the pit indicated in the window, or as instructed.
    • Sometimes we need to segregate corn by moisture and condition. It is important that you dump in the pit assigned. Please check the sign above the pit entrances.
At the Grains Building
  • Pit entry doors are automatic. To open, wait until the light is green and slowly pull towards door.
  • When entering and leaving the pits, please wait for corn piles to finish dropping through the grates before proceeding.
  • Please sweep around pit before leaving.
Outbound Scale
  • At outbound scale kiosk, please scan card and a ticket will print. Allow the printer to stop before gently removing the ticket. If another copy is needed, press the reprint button. Press the kiosk call button to for assistance.
  • Please check scale ticket before leaving. If corrections are needed, let us know and you can pick-up on next visit.*
*Allow up to 24 hours for corrections.
