DTN COMMENTS: The country is slow to start this morning, with just a few
bids on the table, and asking prices remain hard to find. While we should
need to see more business take place today and/or tomorrow in Nebraska and
Iowa, other than some cleanup deals it is looking like the bulk of trading
could essentially be done for the week in Kansas and Texas. Beef cutouts are
expected to be lower with light to moderate box movement.
A moderate trade took place in the South yesterday with a full range of $90
to $95.25 (the $95.25 was from the FCE auction), mostly $95, steady with
Tuesday's business, but $1 higher than last week's weighted averages.
Northern dressed trade was rather light and had a full range of $155 to
$160, steady to $2 lower than Tuesday's deals, but $1 to $6 higher than last
week's weighted average basis Nebraska.
